Tighter is worth more: up to 100 points for a razor-thin range, down to 5 for a huge one. A miss is worth 0, so go as narrow as you dare and no narrower.
The slider is logarithmic: each tick to the right is 10× bigger. A good forecaster catches about 4 answers in 5.
